Google Data Studio Integration

Google Data Studio allows you to create custom dashboards and reports for beautiful data visualization. Using CallRail’s integration with Google Data Studio, you can use the contents of your Call Attribution report to infuse your custom dashboard with your call data.

Getting Started

Your Call Summary data is currently the single CallRail connector for Google Data Studio. This gives you access to the following data points for your reports:

  • Source
  • Keyword
  • Campaign
  • Referrer
  • Landing Page
  • Company

By setting up the integration with Google Data Studio, you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Adding Your Call Data to Google Data Studio

Use the link below to navigate directly to CallRail's Connector within Google Data Studio's gallery. Then, follow the instructions to customize your report. Your integration with Google Data Studio is available at the company or agency level. 

  1. Get started by navigating directly to CallRail's connector to Google Data Studio.

  2. Select Authorize to implement the use of this Community Connector for both CallRail and Google Data Studio.

  3. You'll reach a screen where you can configure your custom report. Select the "Agency" and "Group By" settings you'd like for your report. These two dimensions are required to begin your setup. You can narrow down your reporting further by selecting additional dimensions beneath "Agency" and "Group By."

  4. If you'd like to pull data only from a specific company, enter your company ID in the third field. If no company ID is entered, Data Studio will pull all calls from your account at the agency level (calls meeting the criteria you select here from every company in your account).

    To gain your company ID, log into your CallRail account and choose the company whose data you'd like to appear in your report. Then, click Settings at the top of the page. In the URL, copy the number after /companies/, and paste that ID into your configuration.

  5. After you've set your dimensions in Data Studio to your personal preferences, click Connect at the top of the page.

  6. You'll be taken to a page where you can add additional configurations for your report. Click Add to Report when you're ready to finish your report setup.

    Tip (Optional): If you've selected Average Duration as one of your data points, Google recommends changing the "Type" on this page to "Duration (sec.)" within the Numeric section of the drop-down.

  7. Click Create Report at the top of the page when finished.

  8. You'll be redirected to a new screen where your report will be built. Click Add to Report to add your data source.

  9. Customize your report by choosing the graphs, colors, layout, and themes you'd like to apply to your report.

  10. When finished, click View at the top of the page to see your report.

Adding Additional Data Sources

To add another data source, or display different dimensions on your report, you can re-deploy the CallRail Connector from your original report with a different "Group By" category. Follow the instructions in this section for each dimension you'd like to add to your report.

  1. Open the report where you'd like to add another dimension and select File > Report Settings.

  2. Click the ">" icon for Dimension on the right side of the page.

  3. Click Create New Dimension at the bottom of the page.

  4. Choose CallRail: Calls Summary from the bottom left-hand corner of the page.

  5. You'll reach a screen where you can configure your custom report. Select your preferred dimensions for "Agency" and "Group By" (this is a required step). You should choose a different "Group By" dimension than what already exists in your report.

  6. After you've set up your integration to your personal preferences, click Connect at the top of the page in Google Data Studio.

  7. You'll be taken to a page where you can add additional configurations for your report. Click Add to Report when you're ready to finish your report setup.

  8. Click Add to Report at the top of the page when finished.

  10. Continuing customizing your report by choosing the graphs, colors, layout, and themes you'd like to apply to your report. Here's an example of a report that contains multiple custom dimensions:

Unlinking Google Data Studio from CallRail

If you'd like to remove CallRail's access to Google Data Studio, you can do so from your Google account management settings.

  1. Log into the Google Data Studio account you'd like to unlink from CallRail.

  2. Select your account drop-down at the top of the page, then click Manage Account.

  3. In the Sign-in & security tab, click Connected apps & sites.



  4. Click Manage Apps in the box that lists each app connected to your account.

  5. Click on CallRail Data Connector, then select Remove
