Verifying a Caller ID

When you place an outbound call through CallRail, you can use any of your active tracking numbers. In order for a non-tracking number to show as the caller ID, you'll first verify you own that phone number.

Use this article to learn how to:

  • Verify a number you own outside of CallRail.
  • Remove a number you've previously verified. 

Getting Started

The caller ID you verify should be a separate number you own outside of CallRail. Have this phone close by during this process to verify your ID.

Note: We're unable to change the name on the caller ID for tracking numbers or numbers you verify. The name that displays with the phone number as part of your "caller ID" is determined by carriers. Use these instructions if you'd like for a telephone number you own (instead of a tracking number) to show when you call a customer.

Verify Your Caller ID

Verifying your caller ID is company-dependent within your account. Follow these instructions for each company where you'd like to verify your personal number.

  1. Choose the company where you’d like to verify your caller ID.

  2. Click Lead Center at the bottom-left of the page.

  3. Select the outbound dialer icon at the bottom-left of the Lead Center screen.

  4. Click on the icon to Manage Verified Numbers.

  5. Click Verify a New Number.

  6. Enter your phone number you’d like to use as a caller ID, as well as a descriptive name. The name you enter here helps you quickly identify and pick this number when making an outbound call. This name won't show on the customer's caller ID.

  7. Click Verify Number. We’ll call that number, and also display a pop-up in your browser that includes a code. Enter your unique code using your telephone keypad when you receive our verification call.

  8. Once you've entered the code, a success message will appear. Click Continue at the prompt, and you'll see your telephone number added to your list of outbound caller IDs.

Remove a Verified ID

If you'd like to delete a number you've added as an outbound caller ID, you can do so from the Outbound Caller ID page.

  1. Choose the company where you’d like to remove your caller ID.

  2. Click Lead Center at the bottom-left of the page.

  3. Select the outbound dialer icon at the bottom-left of Lead Center.

  4. Click on the icon to Manage Verified Numbers.

  5. Find the number you'd like to delete, then click the Remove Number icon on the right side of that number's row.
