Bing Ads Integration

Track calls and texts as conversions in Bing Ads when you use CallRail's keyword-level tracking. Once your integration with Bing Ads is active, we’ll report your Bing PPC calls and texts as offline conversions.

Getting Started

CallRail’s integration with Bing Ads requires the following:

If you manage more than one Bing Ads account, you can use this help article to determine how to organize your Bing Ads accounts

Important note: When you activate your Bing Ads integration, calls and texts to your tracking numbers will not begin sending as conversions for two hours. Once your calls and texts start sending, there can be up to a five-hour delay before you'll see your conversions appear on your Bing Ads account dashboard. 

Enable Microsoft Click ID Auto-Tagging and Keyword Tracking 

Auto-tagging in Bing Ads adds a unique click ID to your landing page URL's so when a customer navigates to your page via one of your paid ads, you can accurately track their source and other UTM parameters. Follow these steps in your Bing Ads account to enable auto-tagging at the account level, so that your ads will automatically be tagged for conversion tracking.

  1. Click the gear icon and select Accounts & Billing

  2. If you have multiple accounts, select an account from the drop-down list at the top of the page.

  3. On the Accounts tab, click the edit icon.

  4. Next to Auto-tagging, select Add UTM tags to my landing page URLs.

  5. Choose to either replace all existing tags or instead keep the tags you already have and have Bing Ads add any additional tags that are missing. The first option will remove any UTM tags you already have and add the UTM tags used for auto-tagging. The second option will include the auto-tagging tags to your existing tags.

  6. Click Save to apply your changes to your account.

Integrating with Bing Ads

We recommend signing into the email account associated with the Bing Ads account you'd like to use first before setting up the CallRail integration to ensure the correct account is linked.

Follow the instructions below for each company you’d like to integrate with Bing Ads.

  1. Choose the company you’d like to integrate with Bing Ads.

  2. Click Settings at the top of the page.

  3. Select Bing Ads from the list of Integrations.

  4. Sign into the Bing Ads account you'd like to use and click Authorize. This will redirect you to Bing website where you will be asked to authorize CallRail to send data to your Bing Ads account.

  5. Choose Yes to authorize CallRail’s access.

  6. Allowing CallRail access to your Bing Ads customer account will move your integration into a "pending" state. Select the company in your customer account you’d like to use for this integration to take the integration out of pending

  7. Click Activate to connect your integration. This creates your call and text conversion goals in Bing and allows CallRail to report your new, incoming calls as offline conversions.

  8. Once your integration is active, there will be a two-hour delay before new call and text conversions start sending to Bing Ads.

Viewing Call and Text Conversions in Bing Ads

Use this set of instructions to find your call and text conversions in Bing Ads.

  1. Once you're logged into Bing Ads, select Conversion Tracking in the left-hand side bar, then click Conversion goals.

  2. Your CallRail conversions in Bing Ads display as Phone Call and Text Message

    Important note: Changing the name of the conversion ("Phone Call" or "Text Message") will prevent CallRail from sending your conversion data to Bing; however, you can edit the other conversion fields if you'd like.

Tracking Keywords in CallRail

Adding a keyword tracking template allows you to report keywords into your CallRail call log and caller timelines so you can see which keywords are driving your offline conversions.  Adding the ?keyword={keyword} parameter to your URLs in Bing Ads is a recommended last step to setting up your Bing Ads integration.

  1. Log into your Bing Ads account and select Shared Library on the left sidebar.

  2. Scroll to the bottom and select View URL options.

  3. Enter the following keyword tracking parameter in the Tracking template form field: 
    {lpurl}?utm_term={keyword}

  4. Select Auto-tagging of Click ID to automatically apply the MSCLKID to your URLs. 

Disabling Bing Ads Integration

Disabling a company's integration will prevent conversions from reporting to Bing Ads. We'll keep your credentials saved in case you'd like to re-activate your integration in the future.

  1. Choose the company whose integration you'd like to disable.

  2. Click Settings at the top of the page.

  3. Select Bing Ads from the list of Integrations.

  4. Select Disable Integration on the right side of the page.

  5. Click Disable in the pop-up window to turn off your Bing Ads integration.

FAQs

Why don't I see my conversions in Bing Ads?

When you first activate the Bing Ads integration, there is a two-hour window where new phone call and text conversions will not send to Bing Ads. After that window, there will always be a delay of up to five hours before your phone call and text conversions will show on your Bing Ads dashboard. 

Can I edit the conversion that CallRail creates when I activate my integration?

Changing the name of the conversion ("Phone Call") will prevent CallRail from sending your conversion data to Bing; however, you can edit the other conversion fields if you'd like.
