What is A2P 10DLC?

A2P 10DLC is a system in the US that allows Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging using 10-digit long code (10DLC) phone numbers. Messaging using these phone numbers was initially designed for Person-to-Person (P2P) use.

The A2P standard offers a higher-throughput messaging system for businesses. Now, all messages sent by a business are considered A2P, and all CallRail customers who send text messages through the platform will be considered an A2P use case.

Why does this matter?

All businesses using numbers for cold outbound text messaging will be required to register their business. Registration is quick and only requires a few pieces of information. To register, click the link to fill out the initial registration form.

The purpose of Outbound SMS Registration is to improve delivery quality and lower filtering risks, so you can be sure your messages are reaching your customers. These changes will also protect against spam and unsolicited messages.

What do I need to do?

During your 14-day free trial

You’ll be unable to text during your 14-day free trial. Once your trial is complete and you’re ready to finish your Lead Center account set up, use the link to register your business.

After your 14-day trial

After your trial, you will be able to receive and respond to incoming messages. You will also be able to send a limited amount of cold outbound messages before registering your business. However, once that amount runs out, you will only be able to receive and respond to incoming messages until you register your business.

Registration is quick and only requires a few pieces of information. Once you submit this information, we will complete the registration for you.
