Customizing Event Names Sent to Google Analytics

I have been using your services integrated with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and I've noticed that the events sent from CallRail to GA4 are named as "form" and "phone_call". However, I would like to customize these event names to better align with my data tracking and analysis.

I have tried to manipulate the names in the code but to no avail. I'm looking for guidance on how to change the names of these events before they are sent to GA4 from CallRail. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Additional Details: I would like to clarify that I'm aware of how to modify event names within Google Analytics 4 itself. However, my objective is to change the event names before they're sent from CallRail to GA4.

This is especially important considering that, in the future, I may want to send this data to BigQuery. As BigQuery receives raw data, the event names need to be set correctly at the initial point of data import. Therefore, the need to customize these names prior to being sent to GA4 is crucial for my analytics setup.

    Hey Wagner,

Unfortunately, these event names cannot be changed.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

  • You can use Modify Event in GA4 to change the name based on criteria you determine.

  • Hey Mark Johnson,

Have you found success in renaming events from CallRail in GA4, and have you continued to see data successfully pass over after doing so?
