API Support for Retrieving Named Destination / Routing Number Details

It would be very helpful if the CallRail API supported retrieving the actual phone number associated with a Named Destination (Routing Number) by its ID.

Current limitation

When a tracking number uses an Advanced Call Flow with a named destination, the Trackers API returns a reference such as:

call_flow.steps.destination_number = "dest:12345"

However, there is currently no supported public API endpoint to resolve this destination ID to the actual phone number configured in CallRail.

The top-level tracker.destination_number field cannot be used as an alternative. According to CallRail Support, this field may return null or retain a historical phone number from a previous Direct Route configuration.

As a result, integrations cannot reliably determine the actual destination phone number for these Call Flows.

Why this matters

We use automated daily checks to verify that tracking numbers are configured to forward calls to the correct destinations.

If someone accidentally changes the phone number assigned to a Named Destination in CallRail, our monitoring needs to detect that change.

Without API access to the current destination number, this validation is not possible.

Maintaining a local mapping between destination IDs and phone numbers does not solve the problem, since it cannot detect changes made directly in CallRail.

Suggested improvement

Provide a supported API endpoint or extend an existing API response to allow integrations to:

  • Retrieve Named Destination / Routing Number details by ID (e.g., dest:12345).

  • Obtain the actual, currently configured destination phone number.

  • Access this information programmatically using a standard CallRail API token.

This would enable automated configuration audits, routing validation, change detection, and monitoring across multiple tracking numbers and companies.

We believe this functionality would be valuable for businesses and agencies managing large numbers of tracking numbers through the CallRail API.
