What the MCP server does
CallRail’s MCP server lets an external LLM agent interact with CallRail data and configuration through a secure OAuth-based connection. It is hosted by CallRail and proxies tool requests to the CallRail API.
How to Install the CallRail MCP
The instructions for installing depend on the provider (Claude, ChatGPT, etc)
Claude
As of August 13, 2026, the CallRail connector is available in the Claude connector store.
- Select Customize from claude.ai’s left-hand navigation.
- Select Connectors from the left-hand side of the new window that appears.
- Click Browse at the top right.
- Search for CallRail, select the connector, and follow the instructions.
ChatGPT

Is the CallRail MCP officially supported?
Yes. The MCP server is an official CallRail service and is hosted by CallRail.
Does it use CallRail OAuth?
Yes. The MCP server uses CallRail OAuth for authentication. Once you connect the MCP server in your LLM client, signs in through the CallRail OAuth flow and grants access to your CallRail account.
Can access be limited to read-only tools?
Yes, typically through the LLM client configuration. MCP tools are annotated to indicate whether they are read-only or potentially destructive. In supported clients, administrators can deny destructive tools and allow only read-only tools. This control is generally enforced in the client, not by changing the MCP server itself.
Does the MCP inherit user permissions?
In general, MCP access follows the same permission model as the CallRail application. If a user can view a data type in the CallRail UI, that same access level is the right baseline for MCP access to that data. Required permission levels, therefore, depend on the specific object and account configuration.
For practical planning, use this rule: the MCP can access the same data the connected user can access in the CallRail UI.
Are transcripts included?
Transcript availability through the MCP follows the same entitlement rules as the CallRail application. If transcripts require Premium Conversation Intelligence in your account, that same requirement applies when accessing transcripts through the MCP.
