  • I was wondering the same thing. I did see that CallRail has a main article on this but it's more about editing the website coding or modifying attribute data:

    https://support.callrail.com/hc/en-us/articles/5711492051085-Preventing-a-number-from-swapping-on-a-website

That's cool and all but some companies have third parties doing their website editing.

It would be cool if there was a feature where the displayed business phone number doesn't change but I guess a unique number is used to track it behind the scenes on CallRail

  • Hello!

Happy to explain. The swap target is the phone number CallRail looks for on your website to dynamically replace with a tracking number. By default, the swap target is the destination number, but you can choose a different swap target for each tracking number on the number configuration page. CallRail can only track calls to your CallRail tracking numbers housed within your account. Additional information regarding swap targets and how to configure can be found here - https://support.callrail.com/hc/en-us/articles/5711328946573-Swap-targets.

CallRail can only track calls made to your tracking numbers housed within your CallRail account. If you own a phone number outside of CallRail that you would like to track calls for, and would like the number to remain visible on your website for visitors, you can port the number into CallRail following the steps outlined HERE
