Google Profile verification calls/texts

Not sure if this is on Call Rail's side or Google's side, but I've never had any luck receiving verification calls/texts through Call Rail tracking numbers from Google profiles. There are other tracking number softwares that allow this, such as Call Owl and Twilio (which Call Rail is built from), so I don't get why Call Rail numbers don't work for this (even after disabling all call flows/greetings/whispers and simply forwarding directly to a phone #). It would be great if this could be fixed.

    I wanted to provide some clarity regarding your inquiry about receiving verification calls and texts. CallRail tracking numbers currently cannot receive verification calls or texts from external or third-party services. Using CallRail tracking numbers to verify accounts with third-party services violates the Acceptable Use Policy outlined in our Terms and Conditions. This information can be found under our FAQs section here. 

    Here’s why:

    • Our numbers cannot accept verification texts or calls because this violates the Acceptable Use Policy outlined in our Terms and Conditions.
    • Our numbers also cannot accept calls or messages from short codes. This is because there isn’t a clear way to route these, and can also pose security issues. Short codes are commonly used for marketing purposes and value-added services, which can result in our numbers receiving spam - which a customer can end up being billed for. There’s not currently a way to effectively add short codes to call blocking settings in CallRail.
    • This is a means of fraud/spam prevention designed to prevent our numbers from being used for the purposes discussed above. This isn’t just limited to short codes, we also block text messages containing “verification code” and similar language from reaching our app.
    • We do this as a safeguard to ensure that the quality and security of the numbers we provide to our customers aren’t affected or compromised.
