Overview
CallRail’s Clio Grow integration helps lawyers and law firms convert leads faster and deliver a better client experience. Starting from the very first phone call to your practice, you get easy access to every communication with a prospective client, along with how that lead found your firm down to the source and keyword level, and the connection to the cases that drive billable work.
Clio is moving its Grow service onto its unified Clio platform. As part of this update, the CallRail integration now connects through the new Clio platform, and customers using Voice Assist gain an added benefit: your Voice Assist agent can recognize a caller using their existing Clio contact details, so it can greet returning clients by name and hold a more informed, personalized conversation during intake.
Before You Begin
Clio Grow vs. Clio Manage: Clio Grow is a separate product from Clio Manage. Clio Grow is used as a lead intake and customer relationship management (CRM) tool for prospective clients, while Clio Manage is used to manage existing clients. CallRail has a separate integration for Clio Manage.
If your law firm uses both Clio Grow and Clio Manage, we recommend connecting only to Clio Grow. Clio Grow has a native integration that moves leads into Clio Manage, so enabling both products with CallRail risks creating duplicate leads.
If both integrations are enabled in CallRail, we will check Clio Manage to see if a client already exists before creating one in Clio Grow.
The Clio Grow integration is only available in the United States.
For Voice Assist caller context: Voice Assist must be active on your CallRail account for your agent to recognize callers using their Clio contact details.
Moving to the New Clio Platform (Action Required by June 30, 2026)
Clio is transitioning its Grow service to the new Clio platform. To keep your CallRail integration sending data without interruption, connect through the new Clio tile in CallRail by June 30, 2026. After this date, integrations that have not moved to the new platform will lose access to Clio.
The data CallRail sends and the way the integration behaves do not change. You are reconnecting through Clio’s updated platform so the integration stays compliant with Clio’s new application management process.
Connecting Clio Grow
- Select the Integrations icon on the left navigation bar.
- Select Clio from the list of integrations.
- Choose the company where you’d like to set up this integration.
- From the integration page, select which events to send to Clio. Options include calls, texts, and/or forms.
- Select Activate.
- You will be prompted to sign in to Clio. Once signed in, select Allow to give CallRail permission to send data to Clio.
Your integration will now show as Active.
Setting Up Voice Assist Caller Context
When Voice Assist is active, your agent can look up an incoming caller in Clio and use their contact details as context during the call. This lets the agent recognize returning clients, address them by name, and answer questions based on the information already stored in Clio.
How it works
- When a call comes in, CallRail looks up the caller in Clio using their name, phone number, or email to find a matching contact.
- If a match is found, the caller’s Clio contact details are provided to the Voice Assist agent as context for the conversation.
- The agent uses that context to personalize the interaction, for example greeting the caller by name or referencing their existing record.
- After the call, Voice Assist logs the interaction back to the matching Clio record.
- If no match is found, Voice Assist continues with standard intake, and a new lead may be created.
What CallRail Sends to Clio
Once the integration is active and you have chosen which interactions to send, calls, texts, and/or forms will automatically populate on Clio’s Leads page. From there, you can choose whether to add the lead into Clio or ignore it. Leads you add are converted into contacts and appear on the Contacts page.
CallRail searches for existing contacts, inbox leads, and open matters in Clio before sending a lead. If one already exists, we will update the Contact Notes section of either Clio Grow or Clio Manage, depending on where the contact exists.
Customers using CallRail’s Premium Intelligence will also see call tags and call summaries in their Clio inbox.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to take action for the Clio platform update?
Clio is moving its Grow service to a new platform with a deadline of June 30, 2026. To avoid any interruption, connect through the new Clio tile in CallRail before that date. The data CallRail sends and the way the integration works do not change.
I use both Clio Grow and Clio Manage. Which one should I connect?
If your firm uses both products, we recommend connecting only to Clio Grow. Clio Grow has a native integration that moves leads into Clio Manage, so enabling both with CallRail risks creating duplicate leads.
Can Voice Assist book appointments through Clio Grow?
No. Voice Assist scheduling is available only through the Clio Manage integration, because the calendar feature lives in Clio Manage. Clio Grow does not support appointment scheduling. The Clio Grow integration supports caller context for Voice Assist, but not booking.
What data does Voice Assist read from Clio during a call?
Voice Assist reads the caller’s contact details, such as their name, phone number, email, address, and contact notes, to recognize the caller and personalize the conversation. It does not change your Clio records during the lookup. After the call, it logs the interaction back to the matching Clio record.
Is the Clio Grow integration available outside the United States?
No. The Clio Grow integration is currently available only in the United States.
