CallRail's mobile app for iPhone and Android can be used to send and receive text messages from any of your tracking numbers. Text messages sent from the mobile app can be viewed on both the CallRail website and mobile app.

Getting started
- In order to access these features on your mobile device, download CallRail’s app using one of the links below for your device:
- Your company must be 10DLC registered to enable and use messaging features. If you are not registered already, you will be prompted to do so in CallRail before using messaging. More information on 10DLC can be found here.
- CallRail's messaging feature is not currently available to Lead Center customers.
- Texting cannot be enabled for international or toll-free numbers.
- Text messages that include images or attachments (MMS) can be sent at a cost of $0.06/message. Attachments are limited 1 per message, with a size limit of 5 megabytes.
Send a text message from a tracking number
Use this set of instructions to send a text message using one of your tracking numbers. This method allows you to send a text message to any customer, regardless of whether or not they've contacted your business before.
- Select the Messages button at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the + button in the bottom-right corner of the app.
- Enter the customer's phone number at the top of the screen.
- If your account has multiple companies, select the company from the menu. If you only have one company, it will be selected already.
- Tap on Select a Caller ID to choose the tracking number you want to text from; the customer will see this number instead of your mobile device.
- Type your message to the customer in the Text Message field.
- Use the paperclip icon to attach an image to your message.
- Use the upward-facing arrow button to Send your message.
Reply to a text message sent to a tracking number
You can quickly reply to text messages sent to any of your tracking numbers inside of the CallRail mobile app.
- Select the Messages button at the bottom of your app.
- Select the text message you want to reply to in your text inbox.
- Type your message to the customer in the Text Message field.
- Use the paperclip icon to attach an image to your message.
- Use the upward-facing arrow button to Send your message.
- Select Send to send your message to the customer and keep the text conversation in your inbox.
Marking a message as unread/read
Unread messages in your CallRail mobile app will have a red icon next to them in the inbox. If you want to mark a message as unread after reading or responding, you can select the Mark Unread button at the top of the conversation. You can also use this to mark a message as read, if it is unread.
Read and unread status will carry over from the mobile app to the web app, so any changes made while on the go will be seen on your company’s page. For more information on read/unread statuses, please view this help article on CallRail messaging.
Receive push notifications for text messages

Can international numbers send and receive text messages?
Only local U.S. and Canadian tracking numbers can send and receive text messages.
Can I forward a text message to another number?
No, we don't support forwarding text messages to different numbers.
