Change the destination number

The destination number is the phone number that will ring when customers dial your CallRail tracking number. This is typically your primary business phone number. You can update a tracking number's destination at any time without interfering with call routing.

Getting started

Please note: CallRail may be unable to forward calls to certain mobile numbers in the United Kingdom and Australia due to the intricate and variable cost structures associated with some carriers.

If you'd like to remove a call flow from a tracking number, here's how to switch to basic call routing.

Update the destination number

Use this set of instructions to update the destination of a number that has not been assigned to a call flow.

  1. Select the Settings icon on the left navigation bar.
  2. Choose the company whose tracking number you'd like to update.
  3. Select the pencil icon for the tracking number you’d like to update to go to its main configuration page.
  4. On the next screen, select the pencil icon in the upper-right of the Number Options menu.

  5. Under Forward Calls To, select Number and enter the number to which you would like your calls forwarded. Your destination number must be a U.S. or Canada number or in the same country as your tracking number.
If you are using Lead Center, you can also route your tracking number to a call flow, Agent, or Team you've added to Lead Center.

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the section and select Save to update your number.

Update the destination in a call flow

Use these instructions to update the destination for a number assigned to a call flow.

  1. Select the Settings icon in the left navigation bar.
  2. Choose the company whose tracking number you'd like to update.
  3. Select Workflow at the top of the page.
  4. Select the pencil icon at the right of the row for the call flow whose destination number you want to update.
  5. Within the Dial, Simulcall, or Round Robin step of your Call Flow Builder, enter in the new number where calls should forward. If your account is configured for international call tracking, the phone number entered in the dial step must match the country selected at the top of the call flow.
  6. When you're finished editing your Call Flow Builder to your personal preferences, select Save at the top of the page.
  7. In the pop-up window, assign your call flow to one or more of your tracking numbers. Select Assign when done, or select Skip to skip the step for now. If you skip this step, you can assign call flows to tracking numbers on the All Numbers page at any time.

Once you save your changes, your calls will immediately begin routing to the new forwarding number you enter.
